QAnon Leaders Force Followers Into Multi-Level Advertising and marketing

4 min read

In a December livestream to his QAnon fanbase, conspiracy theorist Phil Godlewski laid out what he explained as the important to their economical futures: obtaining silver.

The valuable steel, Godlewski insisted, would before long explode in benefit soon after the passage of laws some QAnon believers imagine will provide on a utopia. Cash flow taxes would be eradicated, financial debt would be abolished, and any one keeping silver would turn into fabulously wealthy.

But Godlewski did not want his followers to acquire silver from just any business. Rather, he told them to acquire by means of 7k Metals, a multi-level marketing and advertising organization and metals vendor.

Godlewski and other leading QAnon conspiracy theorists have observed a new way to make funds from their supporters: directing them to invest in and sell items for multi-degree advertising and marketing organizations.

MLMs, which depend on new associates recruiting subordinate salespeople, with the initial “upline” producing funds from their “downline” recruit’s sales, have beforehand been the domain of leggings and crucial oils firms. But now QAnon leaders want in on the action.

Though quite a few MLMs are lawful, some have been in contrast to unlawful pyramid strategies, in which new users fork out in money to sign up for with out any likelihood of building their money back again. Disillusioned Mlm members have complained that they’ve been left poorly in debt when their revenue unsuccessful to materialize.

Providing silver via 7k Metals marked the newest organization shift from Godlewski, who served time in jail past 12 months right after bouncing a bad check for far more than $21,000, then falsifying bank records to steer clear of remaining caught. In an unrelated 2010 situation, Godlewski was indicted around carrying on an alleged sexual connection with a 15-12 months-old. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor cost of corrupting a small.

Godlewski isn’t alone. Extra QAnon promoters have turned to marketing multi-level internet marketing organizations as approaches to monetize their followings.

QAnon booster Richard Potcner, who goes by the name “Richard Citizen Journalist” on line, rose to prominence in conspiracy-theorist circles in 2020 by filming hospitals as “proof” that the pandemic was a hoax.

This spring, Potcner arrived to his followers with a severe message: It was time to buy silver. Like Godlewski, he had teamed up with 7k Metals to pitch his supporters on joining the Multi level marketing.

“Patriots are unstoppable together,” Potcner said, encouraging his followers to set their retirement funds into silver.

While the organization associations concerning the QAnon promoters and the Multi level marketing businesses are unclear, the two Godlewski and Potcner could stand to gain substantially if they are counted as the “uplines” for followers who be a part of 7k Metals.

Godlewski, Potcner, and 7k Metals didn’t respond to requests for comment.

QAnon leaders aren’t just offering silver. Scott McKay, a Q-backer who wields a tomahawk on stage and openly fantasizes about the murder of Democrats in his movies, appears at QAnon rallies across the region underneath the identify “Patriot Streetfighter.”

In posts on the messaging app Telegram in March, McKay urged his supporters to prepare for the start of a mysterious venture called “Operation Tomahawk.” Revealing little about the challenge, he promised that he was launching an “economic warfare platform” that would take on liberal organizations and “choke them out.”

“We are heading to have hundreds of thousands and then tens of millions of people today collaborating in this,” McKay declared in a online video.

McKay’s Operation Tomahawk turned out to be Patriot Change, another direct-offering business enterprise primarily based on multi-stage internet marketing. This time, QAnon followers are becoming urged to purchase their products and solutions by Patriot Swap, thereby “supporting providers that encourage independence.” In a online video to his followers, McKay promised that they would generate commissions by recruiting new individuals to provide by way of the company.

McKay didn’t react to a ask for for comment.

Endorsing the MLMs hasn’t always long gone effortlessly for the QAnon figures. In 2021, Godlewski’s efforts to pitch his followers ran afoul of Jeanette Geary, a conservative activist and Godlewski detractor. Geary instructed The Daily Beast in a December e-mail that she experienced contacted the FBI and other legislation enforcement organizations about Godlewski’s silver operation. (Godlewski has not been billed with any crimes linked to the silver profits).

Final calendar year, Godlewski sued Geary for defamation in a Pennsylvania federal court docket around her allegations. Geary has claimed that Godlewski encouraged his followers to vacant their 401(k) retirement accounts and convert them into silver marketed by 7k Metals, according to his lawsuit.
