Capitalism ‘is the absolute pursuit of profit’ at all expenditures

“You know, we are here in the Bronx,” she said through her job interview with Yahoo Finance, which was filmed in that borough. “I symbolize a neighborhood that has the greatest concentration of worker cooperatives in … a person of the premier concentrations in the globe.”

One employee cooperative in the Bronx, an employee-owned dwelling treatment agency known as Cooperative Home Care Associates, describes alone as the premier worker cooperative in the U.S., employing approximately 2,000 Black and Latinx employees.

“Now these are alternate techniques of accomplishing small business,” Ocasio-Cortez explained to Yahoo Finance. “Free markets are not the same matter as capitalism.”

When former White House press secretary Sean Spicer accused her of “working with capitalism to force socialism” in a tweet, she tweeted again the similar definition of capitalism that she used with Yahoo Finance.

Speaking to Yahoo Finance, Ocasio-Cortez described American billionaires as the epitome of capitalism.

“What we are also discussing is the ability for a very tiny team of true capitalists, and that is, men and women who have so significantly revenue that their cash would make income, and they don’t have to do the job,” she explained. “They can regulate market, they can handle our energy sources, they can regulate our labor …They can primarily have power more than the a lot of. And to me, that is not a redeemable program.”
